When I grounded myself from twitter this week, it wasn’t because I object to twitter or how I use twitter.
I’m having a hard time intellectually stating something and then following that statement in my life. That’s a sign of addiction spiraling out of control. Or of madness setting in. I know a lot of people just spout off shit all the time and then never do it, but that’s not really how my life goes. If I tell you I’m going to do something, I intend to put my considerable determination on task to complete that thing.
So when I state I will do x and can’t….that’s when something has to change. I’ve tried dropping drinking before but that didn’t work very well. So this time I’m trying twitter. I don’t know that anything will change. But I at least wanted to explain that this is not a problem with twitter or with people on twitter. This is a problem with me.
On a side note, it’s interesting to me that men tend to take drastic measures to reform themselves when they see themselves drifting away from themselves. Women are much more open to themselves changing and take drastic measures to reform themselves *insert something here*. It just seems to me that men have an ideal of themselves they are always trying to stay true to while women are more flexible in their roles/responsibilities/interests changing throughout life. Not that me being a fuckup and trying not to be a fuckup is really within the domain of this discussion, but it just occurred to me.
I look forward to talking again to y’all on Friday. Until then, keep your chin up, tell a cop to suck a dick and give a bum a buck.
Solstice is when day length arrives at a set point. For this year, day lengths will now only get shorter each day until winter solstice when the climb back up begins again.
Solstice is an odd sort of observation that took me years to sort of cement into my head. From my perspective summer lasted from late May until late August. Yet the day light cycle only decreases during most of that time.
What we’re really dealing with is that it takes a while to heat up the planet every year. And in essence, we’re usually about 2 months behind the day light cycle.
But animals and plants respond to day light cycles. So solstice remains an important obelisk in our personal timeline.
It’s a song of love at it’s most innocent stages, it’s called Tangerine.
